The gorgeous and versatile Smriti Irani, who has worn many hats from being an acclaimed television actress to a powerful cabinet minister, recently looked back at her journey and shared an interesting insight about her participation in the iconic Femina Miss India competition in 1998.
In a candid conversation, Irani revealed that contrary to popular notions, it was not just about having a good face or physique that attracted her to the pageant but she was keen to enhance and test her oratory skills on such a big platform.
She said she saw the pageant as an opportunity to showcase her personality through her ability to converse and respond to questions decisively if confronted on the stage. However, to her disappointment, the skills of articulation and general knowledge were not given importance at that time.
A quick search online also led to resurfaced footage from the pageant where a young Smriti is seen briefly talking about her interests and goals. Even back then, her aspiration to make a mark in the field of politics is quite evident.
Looking back at her journey with humility, Irani acknowledged facing rejections and criticisms about her appearance but she stayed determined and leveraged the experiences to grow in her career.
Her refreshing take on the reasons for joining the prestigious pageant is truly inspiring and shows her driven nature to keep pushing boundaries. It provides new perspective about her charisma and vision even in her early days.
