‘Vikalp’ SMVDU organizes Village Contact Prog

Katra: In a continued effort to bridge the gap between education and underprivileged communities, Vikalp, a student initiative at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), organized a Village Contact Program on Wednesday, in collaboration with NSS volunteers. The program, which aimed to reconnect with the local community after the Diwali break, focused on promoting the organization’s educational services and encouraging new student enrollments. The outreach campaign kicked off at 4:00 PM from Gate No. 2 of SMVDU, with enthusiastic volunteers heading towards Sirah Colony, Sool, and surrounding areas. The team engaged directly with local residents, addressing their concerns about Vikalp’s reopening and spreading awareness about the initiative’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality education to the disadvantaged. Over the course of the program, which concluded at 5:30 PM, volunteers visited approximately 35 to 40 households. They shared key information about the educational services offered by Vikalp, receiving positive feedback from the community members.

Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, and Shri Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Faculty Coordinator of Vikalp, praised the volunteers for their dedication and hard work. They also acknowledged the significant contribution of Dr. Rajiv Attri, Program Coordinator of NSS, for his support and coordination of the program.
