Training Prog for SHGs organized

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and -Jammu (SKUAST-J), UK based NGO, Brooke , Sahyog India and NABARD, Reasi organised one day long farmers training programme on “Agri-entrepreneurship development in rural areas” for Self Help Groups (SHGs) members here today at KVK, Reasi campus. Large number of farmers from different villages of Reasi district enthuastically participated in the programme. The programme was organised under the guidance of Associate Director Extension and Incharge KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr.R.K. Arora and co-ordinated by DDM, NABARD, Sh. Adarsh Gupta. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi inaugurated the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. In the inaugural session he said the farmers that they should divert themselves from the subsistence to commercial agriculture so that they can increase their income. He said that farmers should take the opportunities to become the agri-entrepreneurs and by doing so they can enhance their income and employment. He stressed on commercial organic farming and added that hilly areas have immense scope in organic farming and farmers can fetch more prices by growing the organic crops. He highlighted the eco-friendly agricultural technologies for the organic farming. He recommended certain biofungicides and biopesticides for the management of insect-pests and diseases in the organic crops. Sh. Adarsh Gupta, DDM, NABARD, Reasi said the farmers that by scientific agriculture they can increase their crops yields and raise their socio-economic status. Sh. BK Sharma, LDM, Chief Manager, Reasi highlighted various banking schemes offered by the banks for the welfare of the farmers. He suggested the farmers to take bank loans to upgrade their agriculture. Dr. Mandeep Singh, Scientist of KVK, Reasi highlighted various animal diseases including the glander disease in horses and gave their remedial measures. Sh. Bansi Lal Kotwal, Counsellor, SBI, Reasi motivated the farmers for the banking loans and highlighted various agricultural schemes/programmes for the farmers. Dr. Himanshu Sharma, Vetrinary Officer from Brooke India guided the farmers on the scientific dairy farming and horse rearing. Smt. Mamta Sharma from RSETI, Reasi created awareness on the various vocational training programmes imparted by RSETI.
During the programme special video shows on commercial agriculture were also arranged for the farmers. In this training programme many quarries were raised by the farmers which the experts answered in a very satisfactorily way. The programme was concluded by Dr. Sanjay Kaushal with vote of thanks. In this programme Sahyog India officials Sh. Sher Singh, Sh. Mukesh Singh and others were also present.
