Tiny Teeth, Deadly Bite: Toddler Bites Cobra in Bihar — Survives, Snake Doesn’t

Patna, July 31: In a jaw-dropping incident straight out of a thriller, a one-year-old boy from Bihar’s West Champaran district bit a venomous cobra to death — and survived the ordeal without a single sign of venom infection.

The incident took place in Bettiah town, where the toddler, Govinda, was playing inside his home. Unaware of danger and driven by curiosity, he mistook the two-foot-long cobra for a toy. According to eyewitnesses and local residents, the child picked up the snake and bit it so hard that he tore it into two pieces — killing it on the spot.

What followed was a moment of sheer panic. The baby fell unconscious almost immediately after the bite, prompting his family to rush him to the nearest Majhauliya Primary Health Centre. From there, he was referred to Bettiah Government Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

Doctors were stunned when tests showed that the child displayed no symptoms of venom poisoning. Dr. Devikant Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of JMCH Hospital, told reporters that the toddler was “out of danger” and remained under observation. “There is no sign of venom-related complications, and the child is responding well to treatment,” he confirmed.

Locals are still in disbelief over what they witnessed. Many called the toddler’s actions a reflex, triggered by the snake coming too close. While some were terrified, others considered it nothing short of a miracle that the boy escaped the potentially deadly consequences of such a bite.

The cobra, one of India’s most venomous snakes, is known to cause fatalities within hours if not treated quickly. That a child not only bit it but survived — without a trace of harm — has turned young Govinda into something of a local legend.

The bizarre yet miraculous incident has gone viral across local and national media, leaving the country both stunned and fascinated.
