Panaji, Oct 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday credited the extraordinary coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force for compelling Pakistan to surrender during Operation Sindoor. He was addressing Navy personnel aboard INS Vikrant, where he also lauded the nation’s progress in defence self-reliance and the success in curbing Maoist violence.
Calling INS Vikrant “a testimony to 21st-century India’s hard work, talent, impact and commitment,” Modi said the indigenously built aircraft carrier represents the capability and confidence of a truly Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The Prime Minister highlighted that coordinated efforts of the three services during Operation Sindoor showcased India’s strength and unity in warfare. He also praised the security forces for their relentless fight against Maoist extremism, asserting that India is on the verge of total freedom from such violence.
“Earlier, 125 districts were under the grip of Maoist terror; now the number has dropped to just 11. While 90 per cent success has been achieved, I’m confident our police forces will completely eliminate Maoist violence,” he said.
Reaffirming India’s goal to become a global defence exporter, Modi noted that over 40 warships and submarines have been built by Indian shipyards since 2014. “The name BrahMos strikes fear in some minds, and now many countries are eager to buy these missiles,” he added.
Sharing his personal experience aboard INS Vikrant, the Prime Minister said, “The night I spent yesterday on INS Vikrant is hard to put into words. My Diwali has been special as it was spent among you.” (Agencies)
