Srinagar: A terrorist was killed on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in the Dachigam forest area of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, was carried out by a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to the Chinar Corps of the Army, the operation began on December 2, 2024, in the upper mountain belts of the Harwan area, where initial contact with the militants was established. The area was immediately cordoned off, and all roads leading to the encounter site were sealed by the police.

The gunfight erupted during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in the region. The operation resumed at first light on Tuesday as security forces tightened the cordon around the suspected hiding spot.

Security forces have been intensifying operations in recent weeks, responding to a rise in terrorist attacks in the region.
