The statement given by senior Border Security Force, Punjab Frontier official that the security force has neutralised 255 drones this year, which came from Pakistan for smuggling heroin and weapons tells about the extent of the threat as the country’s adversary is sending hundreds of drones to this side for giving shape to its evil designs mostly for abetting terrorism because the proceeds of the drugs supplied through this way also helps in fuelling terrorism.
As the security forces in J&K have strengthened surveillance along borders, the focus of drug and weapon smugglers from across the border has now shifted to Punjab as the cases of drones entering this side of the border have increased manifold times in Punjab. It is necessary that BSF should strengthen surveillance in Punjab also on the lines of J&K because enemy drones’ increased activities can prove detrimental towards the country’s interest. As the fog season is fast approaching it becomes necessary that security forces should remain on tenterhooks to check smuggling activities from across the border as visibility decreases during this time of the year, which can be exploited by using drones.
The modus operandi of smugglers working from across the border has been exposed as they send the arms and narcotics consignments using drones, which were dropped in the open areas and the local supporters then pick these consignments for further delivery. As the similar procedure is being followed in border areas of J&K, it becomes imperative that the security forces both in Punjab and J&K should act in a similar manner and foil all such attempts to deliver narcotics and arms to this side using drones.
There are many ways by which this nefarious activity could be controlled with leveraging technology being the top most panacea to counter this anti-national activity getting support from the Pakistani authorities to further fuel the proxy war, which the western neighbour of India has been waging foe the last many decades. It becomes necessary that all required steps and measures should be taken to stop Pakistan from continuing its evil designs in J&K and Punjab as the country cannot afford more damages by allowing Pakistan to continue such mechanizations against India.
