Srinagar-Jammu and Ladakh highways on Saturday were closed for vehicular traffic due to snowfall and landslides, a traffic control room official said.
Meanwhile, Mughal road, Bandipora-Gurez, Machil and Keran in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara were also closed due to moderate snowfall, the official said.
He said, Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed following landslides triggered at Ramban due to heavy rains. The road was also slippery near the Jawahar tunnel due to snowfall. Snowfall at Pir Ki Gali and bad weather conditions also closed the traditional Mughal road for the movement of traffic.
The Srinagar-Ladakh highway was closed due to snowfall at Zojila pass and Gumri, a traffic official said, adding more than a foot of snow had accumulated on the highway and it was still snowing there.
He said Machil road has been closed as a precautionary measure following nearly 6 inches of snowfall there, they said. Bandipora-Gurez also continues to be closed following 15 inches of snowfall near Razdan top. There are reports of 4-6 inches of snow at Dawar, Ismarg and Tulail, they said.
