Devotees should travel only on allotted dates as Tatkal slots limited
Jammu Tawi, July 3: The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) has advised pilgrims intending to undertake the annual Amarnath Yatra to complete advance registration before arriving in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Tatkal (on-the-spot) registration facilities are extremely limited owing to the prescribed daily ceiling on pilgrims.
In an important advisory issued on Thursday, the authorities said that, as directed by the Supreme Court, the maximum number of pilgrims permitted on the Yatra route each day has been fixed and strict adherence to this limit is mandatory to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
The advisory noted that advance registration facilities had been opened well before the commencement of the Yatra through designated bank branches across the country as well as online platforms, enabling a majority of pilgrims to complete the registration process in advance.
Consequently, officials said, only a limited number of Tatkal registration slots are available, and pilgrims have been requested to travel to Jammu and Kashmir only after securing advance registration.
The administration clarified that it would not be possible to accommodate thousands of devotees arriving without registration under the Tatkal facility. Such pilgrims have been advised to wait for their turn and undertake the pilgrimage only on the date assigned by the authorities.
It was also observed that several registered pilgrims are reaching Jammu and Kashmir before their scheduled travel dates. The advisory emphasized that no pilgrim would be allowed to proceed on the Yatra before the date mentioned in their registration.
Pilgrims arriving without registration have once again been urged to wait for their turn.
The administration assured devotees that every pilgrim would get an opportunity to undertake the Yatra, but only in accordance with the prescribed procedures and the available carrying capacity.
Pilgrims have been requested to maintain order and extend full cooperation to the administration to ensure the safety and convenience of all participants in the pilgrimage.
