Smriti Irani, 3 other Union Ministers on J&K grievance outreach

Budgam, Sep 22: As a part of the Union Government's J&K outreach initiative, Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani, Union Minister of State for and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar,Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra and Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports and Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik visited and attempted at addressing the public grievances on a tour of the UT of Jammu and Kasshmir.

Smriti who is on her concluding day of visit to Budgam maintained that the objective of centre's outreach to UT of J&K has been initiated to know about the grievances of the people at the ground level.

She assured that demands and grievances projected would be put up with Centre as well as with the local government of J&K UT for early redressal.

The Minister inaugurated sports stadium Magam constructed and developed on the latest patterns by J&K sports council. The Minister at the stadium witnessed a live football match and interacted with the players of the local clubs.

Smt. Irani also visited the Horticulture High density orchard and fruit & vegetable preservation unit at Malpora Magam. On the occasion while interacting with the farmers she said that Kashmir has a huge potential to become the 2nd largest producer of high quality apples in the world. “There is a need for diversification in fruit production for introduction at global level. Kashmir is fortunate to have a conducive climate and fertile land for high yield cultivation of horticulture produce,' she added.

The Minister directed concerned horticulture authorities to organize awareness camps in the area to involve more and more progressive farmers towards high diversity plantation. She assured that the Government will envisage all necessary support, technical guidance, sponsorship through banks to the farmers and Farm Producing Organizations (FPOs) willing to adopt high density plantation.

Earlier on her visit, the Minister inaugurated Anaemia Camp at Govt. Degree College Magam and also visited craft village Kanihama. The Minister interacted with local artisans and Self Help Groups from NRLM. She was accompanied by Secretary Social Welfare, Sheetal Nanda, DC Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza among many others.

Speaking on the occasion Smt. Irani said, “I was enthusiastic to see the skills, dedication and patience these highly skilled artisans showcased while weaving their high cost Kani Shawl and other products”. During her interaction, she assured concerned artisans and other producers that the Government is keen to introduce this product internationally so that it has worldwide market availability.

During her visit to Magam the Minister also witnessed the presentations of cultural programmes performed by renowned cultural artists organized by the Department of Social Welfare and District Information Centre Budgam.

Encouraging to see progress made on ground in health, other sectors: Union MoS Health

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar Wednesday said that it is encouraging and heartening to see substantial progress made by Anantnag district in Health, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and other sectors.

The Minister said this while reviewing the status of the district in these sectors during her public outreach programme at Pahalgam, here.

The Minister expressed satisfaction on achievements made in building healthcare infrastructure besides the implementation of Centrally Sponsored and Flagship Schemes of the Government concerning these fields.

Appreciating the efforts of the Government functionaries, Dr. Bharati impressed upon them to work with added zeal so the benefits of the Government funded schemes percolate down to the target population. She called for conducting massive awareness campaigns for the people in remote areas and last person in line to accrue benefits of these schemes in time.

The Minister stressed for involving the PRIs/ULBs in development and welfare activities besides taking their valuable suggestions on board while chalking out and implementing the plans in their respective areas. She also emphasised on organising special training sessions and exposure visits for them so as to build and enhance their capacities besides making them more active and empowered at grass roots level.

Hailing the potential of the area, Dr. Bharati advocated for bringing unexplored places and villages under the tourism map with focus on medical and eco-tourism so that the economy of the area gets a boost. The road connectivity has to be enhanced further to ensure the visitors are facilitated with easy access to these locations, she remarked.

The Minister pointed to the need for working as a team on part of different government departments so that problems of general as well as tribal populations besides those living in remote areas are resolved in time.

Emphasis was laid on improving the quality of work in general and devising special strategies for ease of people residing in hilly and difficult terrain areas including the tribals.

The Minister enjoined upon the officers to take concrete measures for enhancing level of processing and value addition in horticulture products like apple, walnut etc for raising the income of the growers and traders associated with the industry.

On the occasion, the Minister e-inaugurated 41 works/projects and laid e-foundation for 22 works/projects in RDD, Health, Jal Shakti, YSS, ULB and other sectors.

Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla presented a brief overview of status and achievements made by the district in Heath, Rural Development and other sectors.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bhardhawaj, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, ADDC, CPO, CMO, ACD, ACP, SDM, Pahalgan SEs and Exens Jal Shakti and KPDCL, Dy.CMO besides other officers attended the meeting.

The Minister also paid obeisance at Sakhi Zainuddin Wali's Shrine, Aishmuqam where she was received with respect and honour by President Municipal Committee, Aishmuqam Sofi Arfat besides the “Shrine Intizamiya” members and local people.

Later, the Minister visited the Government Medical College Anantnag where Director Coordination, New GMCs, Dr. Yashpal Sharma informed her that the college is in final stages of completion. He also briefed the Minister about the facilities, intake capacities, status of work completion, future plans etc of the New GMCs.

Principal GMC, Prof. Dr. Syed Tariq presented an overview of the capacities and achievements of the college besides the work done by its medical and paramedical staff during normal, Covid and other tough times.

Dr. Bharati also held an interactive session with the doctors and students of the college.

Addressing the session, the Minister said that government is committed to provide better infrastructure and healthcare facilities to the general public. She called upon students and other youth to become part of the tremendous progress the country is witnessing in all fields so that the ladder of development is embarked together by collective efforts of one and all.

DDC, DHSK, SSP, CMO and district/sectoral officers were also present during the interaction session.

Union MoS Home Ajay Mishra visits Shopian, inaugurates several projects

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra Wednesday visited district Shopian under the ongoing public outreach programme.

The Minister e-inaugurated several developmental projects during his visit. He also laid e-foundation of Indoor Stadium Keller and Indoor Stadium Zainapora coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 98 lakh and Rs 93 lakh respectively.

The Minister also visited District Hospital Shopian and e-inaugurated Dialysis Unit coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 25.45 lakh and also in-inaugurated the Blood Bank of the hospital. He interacted with health functionaries and also met with the people assembled there.

The Deputy Commissioner briefed the Minister about the developmental activities achieved so for in the district and also threw light on some major developmental issues and initiatives needed to be redressed in future.

The Minister also held a public interaction wherein several delegations called on him and apprised him about various issues being faced by them.

Sh Mishra said that the need of the hour is to inspire youngsters, especially the youth, to utilize their energy in a positive way. He assured every possible support from the government to uplift the district by way of development. He further added that it is matter of joy that District Administration is ahead in developmental activities and is successful in fulfilling the expectations of the people who have really great aspirations with the Administration. He said the Prime Minister's aim is to serve the nation as a whole in a mission mode, to work together whole heartedly and to bring a big change in making it successful in every sphere of life.

Sharing the vision of the Union Government, Shri Mishra said that the Centre wants its ministers to assess on-ground situation and take feedback from the public. “The Centre also wants to ensure that the people's lives are being touched and positive change is brought,” the minister added.

The Union MoS Home also interacted with DDC Members, BDCs, ULBs, PRIs, Civil Society Members ST/SC Members, youth of the district and other political leaders and workers who put forth their demands and issues. He heard them patiently and assured that their genuine demands would be looked into and resolved in a time bound manner.

DDC Chairperson, Bilqees Jan, DDC Vice-Chairperson Irfan Manhas, Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP, Shopian, Amrit Paul Singh and other senior officers of the district were also present.

Union MoS Youth Affairs & Sports chairs officers meeting

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports and Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik who is on a four-day visit to Kashmir under the Union Government's public outreach programme chaired a meeting of officers and officials of Youth Services and Sports Department (YS&S) at Youth Hostel on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Director YS&S, Gazanfar Ali gave a detailed presentation regarding the programmes and achievements of the Department so far.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, Principal Secretary YS&S, Alok Kumar, Director YS&S, Special Secretary YS&S, Secretary JK Sports Council, Joint Director Kashmir YS&S and Principal Government College of Physical Education Ganderbal besides all District YS&S Officers of Kashmir Division.

The Minister also visited the recently established shooting hall at Youth Hostel where he interacted with student trainees undergoing basic training. He assured and also passed on instructions to sponsor five student trainees who shall undergo advanced training in shooting at Capital Delhi.

Later, the Minister visited Amar Singh College Srinagar to witness the closing ceremony and final matches of Inter Zonal District level competitions.

While addressing the gathering, he encouraged the student participants to participate in games and sports to make their lives active and productive. He further highlighted the sports related initiatives of GOI under Khelo India and Fit India Mission. The minister also gave away trophies and awards to the winning teams of the tournament. He also gave away sports kits to Zonal Physical Education offices of District Srinagar.

On the occasion Khelo India Pledge was imparted to the student in presence of the MoS and other officers from administration.

Union MoS Youth Affairs and Sports felicitates Pencak Silat medalists

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports and Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik Wednesday felicitated Pencak Silat medallists during the ongoing 3 days 6th State Level Pencak Silat Championship 2021 which is being held at Indoor stadium, Polo ground Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that such events not only promote sports but a spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood among the athletes coming from different districts and states.

The Minister witnessed a demonstration of Pencak Silat displayed by some National and athletes and also interacted with different participants coming from over 16 districts across Union territory of J&K including Central team of Jammu and Kashmir police .

Principal Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Alok Kumar, Director Youth Services and Sports, Special Secretary, Youth services and sports and the officials of the Pencak Silat Association of J&K were present on the occasion.
