Jammu, Aug 27: Dogra Sabha and Mandir Committee, Gorkha Nagar, Jammu on Monday commemorated Shri Krishan Janmashtami with religious fervour at Shiv Mandir Gorkha Nagar wherein hundreds of devotees participated in the celebrations.
The Temple was decorated, and special prayer meetings were held to mark the day. The Pooja started at around 7 PM and concluded after the birth of Lord Krishna at midnight. The Pooja was performed by Pandit Kuldeep Sharma, Kulvir Singh (Bittu Baba) president Dogra Sabha Gorkha Nagar Bahu Fort Jammu.
President, Dogra Sabha said that the event was celebrated with religious enthusiasm, and people beyond the Hindu community participated and wished on the occasion. “This is an important festival celebrated by Hindus. We held special prayers at the Temple. This festival marks the birthday of Lord Krishna and this is the day to remember his teachings and spread the message of love and brotherhood. This festival also teaches us how truth always prevails over falsehood. We prayed for the peace and prosperity of the whole Kashmir,” he said.
On the occasion, children attired in colourful dresses performed cultural programmes and mesmerized the gathering with their performances. In addition , Bhajan Kirtan was performed by the lady devotees. Later, prasad was distributed among the people, which was arranged by the members of the Dogra Sabha. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Som Dutt, Mohan, Ashu Kumar, Rajkumar Chopra, Vaishno Kapoor, Rohit Bhagat, Mukesh Kumar, Parshotam, Vickey, Rinku, Vickey (Master), Rahul Sangotra, Sunny Sangotra, Subhash Bhagat, Ashok Sharma, Amit Kumar.
