REASI, Aug 24: In a shocking incident that contradicts Prime Minister Narendra Modi's much-promoted slogan ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao,' two girl students of Government Middle School Bullian, Tehsil Pouni, were allegedly thrashed by a school teacher.

According to reports, the disturbing event occurred in Bullian Panchayat, Tehsil Pouni, Reasi, where a teacher at the Government Middle School Bullian allegedly brutally assaulted two students from the 1st and 4th classes.

“The incident, which has left the local community in shock, also involved the teacher reportedly banging the children's heads against the wall,” sources alleged.

When approached by this reporter, the traumatized children recounted their ordeal, revealing that the teacher not only assaulted them but also threatened to kill them if they spoke out.

The father of one of the students, who chose to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, stated that when he confronted the teacher, he was pressured to keep the matter quiet.

“This incident has raised serious concerns among parents and guardians, who are now worried about the safety of their children at the school,” said sources, adding, “This kind of behavior is utterly unacceptable.”

They questioned the enforcement of rules against corporal punishment in schools, expressing concerns that this teacher might have been misusing her position for a long time, given her influential standing within the system.

“The teacher in question is alleged to have been serving at the school for an extended period, leading to speculations about her influence and connections within the educational department,” said sources. This incident has sparked outrage, with many criticizing the teacher's actions as being contrary to the government's “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative, which aims to protect and educate the girl child.

As a result of the incident, students are now apprehensive about attending school, with many parents considering alternative educational arrangements for their children.

The Chief Officer of the district, when contacted by ‘The Northlines', assured that a thorough investigation is underway.

“Proper action shall be taken in this matter,” he said. “I have already sought a detailed report from the Zonal Education Officer concerned.” He further emphasized that there is no place for corporal punishment in schools.
