Jammu Tawi: Chander Mohan Sharma, Chairman of the J&K Sewa Samittee, has formally disassociated himself from alleged illegal and unauthorized property transactions concerning the Jogi Gate Cremation Ground in Jammu, purportedly carried out by some office bearers of the Samittee.
In a strongly worded statement, Sharma expressed concern over reports of misappropriation and underhand dealings involving the management of cremation ground assets. He clarified that these transactions were undertaken without his knowledge or consent.
To address the issue transparently, Sharma announced the formation of a three-member inquiry committee comprising prominent and upright citizens. The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation and submitting a detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
Sharma emphasized his commitment to ethical governance and the public trust associated with the Samittee’s management of sacred spaces like cremation grounds.
The cremation ground at Jogi Gate holds significant religious and cultural importance in the region, and the controversy has raised concerns among citizens and local organizations. Sharma’s move is seen as an effort to restore accountability and transparency within the Samittee.
