Date:

Tillu Tajpuriya, a jailed gangster and an accused in the 2021 Rohini court shootout case, was allegedly killed inside Tihar Jail early Tuesday by members of the Gogi gang, according to officials.

According to prison officials, the incident occurred around 6.30 a.m. He was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and pronounced dead.

Sunil alias Tillu Tajpuriya, 33, was lodged on the ground floor of the high-risk ward when he was allegedly attacked by four inmates affiliated with the rival Gogi gang around 6.15 a.m., according to a senior prison official.

Deepak alias Titar, Yogesh alias Tunda, Rajesh, and Riyaz Khan were detained on the first floor of the same ward.

According to the official, they allegedly cut the iron grille installed on the first floor of the high-security ward and used bedsheets to climb down to the ground floor before attacking Tajpuriya with an improvised sharp object.

After receiving medical attention at the jail outpatient department around 6.45 a.m., an injured Tajpuriya was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

According to the prison official, he died while receiving treatment at the hospital. He'd been stabbed several times.

According to Akshat Kaushal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), information was received around 7 a.m. from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital about two undertrial prisoners from Tihar Jail being brought there.

Tajpuriya was brought to the hospital unconscious. He was declared dead, according to Kaushal. Another person, Rohit, is receiving treatment and is said to be safe.

In September 2021, gangster Jitender Gogi was shot dead inside the Rohini court complex by two assailants dressed as lawyers. The assailants were then killed by police in retaliatory firing. (Agencies)
