Ever since the present Relief Commissioner (Migrants) T.K Bhat has assumed charge and mantle of the organization, there has been spectacular improvement in the Relief Office as he has pruned the organization from the various ills and problems. Because of his efforts the broker/agent system which was prevalent in the Relief Department was eliminated and as a result the Relief Organization is now working without the middlemen. It benefitted the relief holders and non-relief holders as well. Due to his style of functioning and tireless efforts, the efficiency in the work of relief organization has increased by leaps and bounds. This Relief Commissioner is considered as the guardian and protector of rights of the migrants. The corruption which ruled the roost in the relief organization from many years is today absent due to the honest efforts of this officer. Earlier, money was paid even for a little work by the camp inmates and non camp migrants but now this system of greasing the palms of the relief officials is out of place.
The Relief commissioner works over-time and on war footing and solves the day to day problems related to water, sanitation, electricity, health and other such day to day issues & problems faced by the camp dwellers. Further, the commissioner ensured proper renovation of the quarters without any favour and favouritism. Due to his workaholic attitude he has gained widespread popularity among the migrants both the camp inmates and non-camp migrants, as all have to visit the Relief Commissioner's office for solving the routine problems. In brief, the organization today works in a free and fair manner for the best interests of the migrants due to the working of the Relief Commissioner. However, subsequently the broker and commission system has been done away with as there is zero tolerance for corruption in the office. Besides this Favouritism, nepotism and bribery have also been shown the door. With the result, the working of the Relief Organization is now clean and it works without any prejudice and fear.
We appeal to the LG's administration not to disturb the present posting of the Relief Commissioner as he proved as an asset and guardian for the migrants. And as such his posting should not be affected. He deserves all kudos for his efficiency and honesty.
