Randhawa visits flood-hit Gorkha Nagar, seeks urgent relief

Jammu Tawi: MLA Bahu, Vikram Randhawa, on Wednesday visited flood-affected Ward No. 48, Gorkha Nagar, to take stock of the extensive damage caused by the recent floods. He was accompanied by senior BJP leader Rajeev Charak, Dogra Sabha President Kulbir Singh, and other party workers.

During the visit, Randhawa inspected the Shamshan Ghat and nearby localities where large-scale destruction was reported. The historic 100-year-old Shiv Mandir, considered a heritage place of worship, was completely devastated, while the Shamshan Ghat too was washed away in the floods.

Calling the damage “a huge loss for the people,” Randhawa urged the government to immediately prioritize relief measures and provide compensation to all affected families. “Such natural calamities leave behind deep scars on communities. I strongly appeal to the administration to ensure timely assistance and restoration,” he said.

The MLA also directed the SDM Jammu to expedite restoration work in the locality to minimize hardships for residents. He assured the people that he would personally follow up with the administration to ensure adequate relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction measures are implemented at the earliest.
