Police Post Chanapora Attacked, Cop Injured

A policeman was critically injured after militants attacked a police post Chanapora in Srinagar district on Friday evening. Al-Umar Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attack.
Official sources said that the militants opened fire upon the police post. In the incident, a policeman Feroz Ahmad suffered critical injuries and was immediately taken to Army hospital for treatment.
Sources said that the militants after carrying out the attack managed to escape from the area.

Soon after the attack, government forces launched a hunt to nab the assailants.

Meanwhile, Al-Umar Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attack. In a tele-statement to news gathering agency GNS, outfit’s chief Mushtaq Zargar said that its cadres carried out the attack.

He claimed that the cadres after carrying out the attack reached their destinations safely.
