    PM Modi conferred Brazil’s highest honour

    New Delhi, July 8: Brazilian President Inacio Lula da Silva today conferred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross’- Brazil’s highest civilian honour.

    Accepting the honour, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Brazil and dedicated it to the deep rooted bilateral ties.

    The MEA spokesperson in a post on X said:

    “A testament to the multifaceted India-Brazil Strategic Partnership.

    “President @LulaOficial conferred on PM @narendramodi

    the ‘Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross’- Brazil’s highest honour.

    “PM expressed his gratitude to the government & people of Brazil for this distinguished honour and dedicated the award to the 1.4 billion people of India and to the deep rooted India-Brazil friendship & the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.”

    Earlier, the Brazilian President had posted on X:

    “Welcome to Brasília, Prime Minister @narendramodi. Brazil is grateful for your visit. This meeting will certainly give a new boost to the bilateral relations between our countries.”

    PM Modi arrived yesterday on a state visit to Brazil, the first by an Indian PM in nearly six decades. Earlier, he was in Rio de Janeiro for the 17th BRICS Summit.
