The Social Impact Start-Up which is led by a Women C0-Founder was evaluated based on the performance and excellent contribution with undisputed commitment through it’s small sustainable work in the field of preservation and promotion of Sustainable, Organic, Conscious, 100% Handmade and Authentic Pashmina Shawls and Scarves and livelihood promotion of communities linked to the authentic Pashmina eco-system on India. The Start-Up has an equal representation of Women and Men and is uniquely integrated with creating global awareness, sensitization and delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including No Poverty, Good Health and Well being, Reduced Inequalities and Climate Action. The organisers stated that the impactful work of the Start-Up from Jammu and Kashmir should reach out to the nation to inspire others to strive through unexpected hurdles and remain consistent, adapt and succeed under ever changing market conditions.
The Co-Founder of the initiative Dr. Babar Afzal who is championing the cause of the community and the industry, received the award for his passion for Pashmina, fighting for the rights of the community and research in the field. Dr. Babar has been quoted as one of the most credible voice of authentic Pashmina in the world and has been conferred with many national and international awards and fellowships.
