Jammu, Sep 23: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said Pakistan had become an international brand ambassador of poverty and misery, while it was busy promoting terrorism in India. He said this on Sunday as he held four rallies in Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu districts.
“Rearing and trading in snakes always leads to negative consequences. Pakistan's business of exporting terrorism has now slowed down, due to which the country is in a dire state,” Singh said during a rally in Poonch district. He added that people in Pakistan-occupied J&K were fed up and wanted to join India.
Omar should have sought apology
Crisis of credibility is the biggest challenge in Indian politics.NC vice-president Omar Abdullah should have sought an apology from people for changing his mind to contest the Assembly poll. —Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister
“Pakistan is pained to see the flag of democracy flying in J&K. Over 61 per cent votes were cast in 24 seats in the first phase. People voted without any fear and gave a message that J&K has changed for the better after the abolition of Article 370,” he added.
Launching an attack on the NC-Congress alliance, Rajnath asked, “Why do the Congress and its broken INDIA bloc keep raising issues that come from Pakistan?”
Referring to Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's statement that his country and the NC-Congress alliance were on the same page over Article 370, Rajnath Singh said: “I want to ask my friends in the National Conference, Congress and the PDP, are you fighting elections as proxies of Pakistan?”
He further said that NC vice-president Omar Abdullah should have sought an apology from people for changing his mind to contest the Assembly elections. Several posters have come up at different places on the Jammu Airport road, questioning Abdullah's double talk with regard to his decision to fight the elections.
“I was hurt when I came out of the airport on seeing a poster and thought about what had happened to Indian politics. The poster carried the picture of a young NC leader who had said I will not fight the elections till restoration of statehood and is now fighting the elections from two seats,” said Singh.
