New terror recruit killed, solider injured in Shopian

Shopian, Sep 12: Officials stated on Monday that a newly recruited local terrorist linked with Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed and a soldier was injured in a standoff between terrorists and security forces in the orchards of Shirmal village in the Zainapora area of  's Shopian district.

According to an official, after obtaining precise information regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint team of police, Army, and CRPF conducted a search operation in the region.

He claimed that as the united team of security  forces escalated their search for the probable location, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the group, which was reacted upon, resulting in an encounter.

According to the official, a terrorist identified as Aqib Ahmad Pall, son of Mohammed Akram Pall, Resident of Drawani Imamsahib Shopian who was affiliated with LeT and active since 05 September this year was killed during the exchange of fire, and one soldier of 44 RR was injured and shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment.

He further stated that more reinforcement has been rushed to the region where the spot search operation is taking place.
