NDPS Cases: Property, assets worth Rs 2.25 cr attached in Rajouri

Tawi, May 21: Sending a clear and unequivocal message across to those involved in drug-related offenses, the Jammu and Police have attached property and assets worth Rs. 2.25 crores belonging to individuals involved in cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The property and assets were attached in less than a month in Rajouri district.

The police spokesman here said continuing with its resolute move to combat and free Rajouri from the menace of drugs, police attached the property of an alleged drug peddler, namely Mohd Shakoor alias Shakoora, a resident of Dhani Dhar, Rajouri.

The arrested person is accused in ten FIRs registered in different police stations of the district under the NDPS Act, said the spokesman.

Notably, the accused had also been detained under PSA in December, 2022 but after release in September 2023, he is said to have continued peddling drugs and was subsequently arrested by the police in another drug case at Thanamandi.

The attachment has been done to give a stern message to drug dealers that their days are numbered, the spokesman claimed.

A police team along with an Executive Magistrate took action and attached the residential complex property, valued around 50 Lakhs, under Sections 68(E) (F) of NDPS Act, 1985.
