    NDA Candidate Radhakrishnan files nomination for VP polls

    New Delhi, Aug 20: NDA nominee C P Radhakrishnan on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the vice presidential election in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders.

    Four sets of nomination papers, proposed by Modi, Singh, Shah and JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh, were submitted to Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody, the returning officer. After scrutiny, Radhakrishnan signed the register and received the acknowledgement slip.

    Radhakrishnan, escorted by senior NDA leaders including Union ministers Pralhad Joshi, Dharmendra Pradhan, K Ram Mohan Naidu, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde and LJP’s Chirag Paswan, later paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and other national icons at Prerna Sthal in Parliament complex.

    With the BJP-led alliance’s numbers, Radhakrishnan’s election as Vice President is seen as a certainty. (Agencies)
