Jammu Tawi: BJP spokesperson Advocate Ankur Sharma has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) for allegedly embracing corruption and criminality after former Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant Karnail Singh, an accused in the Jammu and Kashmir Sub-Inspector recruitment scam, joined the party in the presence of Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
In a press release issued today, Sharma condemned NC and its leadership for continuing their “unholy” political tradition of providing a platform to alleged criminals. He stated, “Providing political cover to criminals and emboldening them through political patronage is a longstanding tradition of the National Conference, which has a devastating effect on society and the polity at large.”
Sharma emphasized that Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s decision to welcome Singh, who was previously arrested by the CBI in a paper leak scam, highlights the NC’s prioritization of political expediency over the welfare and interests of the people they are meant to serve. “Such a lowly, shameful conduct is an affront to countless law-abiding citizens who expect accountability and moral leadership from their elected representatives,” Sharma added.
The BJP spokesperson further called for the NC and its government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to be held accountable for endorsing corruption and “moral turpitude,” warning that this could set a dangerous precedent that threatens the integrity of democratic institutions. He also linked the NC’s actions to its history of “subverting Indian democracy” for communal and anti-national purposes.
Ankur Sharma reiterated that the BJP, with the support of citizens, will continue to fight against such corrupt practices, stressing that the party remains committed to safeguarding the national interest and strengthening democracy.
