Bengaluru: A 32-year-old man allegedly molested two women inside a quarantine centre in Bengaluru's HSR Layout on Thursday. The following morning, he was arrested by the police.

Presently, the accused, identified as Jaishankar alias Shankar, has been kept in a room at HSR Layout Police Station. His sample has been collected for testing and the report is expected to arrive on Monday, according to the police.

A government hostel in Sector 4 of the city's locality has been converted into an institutional quarantine facility for travellers from other states. The accused, along with 59 other passengers, came to Bengaluru from Mumbai on Thursday. He was moved to the hostel for a period of seven days in accordance with the government's guidelines to check the spread of COVID-19 infection.

Man molests woman near common bathroom

First, a 30-year-old woman became Jaishankar's target near the common washroom at the quarantine facility. Later he molested a 22-year-old woman while she was sleeping in her room. Police told The Times of , “Men and women are forced to use common bathrooms in the hostel. When the woman went near the bathroom, Jaishankar who was standing there, molested her.” The woman was quick to attack him in self-. She immediately ran back to the room allotted to her.

Accused follows woman to her room

The accused followed the woman to her room and molested a 22-year-old woman, who was sleeping there. Four other women, who were present in the same room, raised an alarm. Men from adjacent rooms rushed in and caught Jaishankar, according to the police.

The accused is a resident of North Bengaluru's Subramanyanagar locality. He is an employee of an interior designing company. In the third week of March, he had gone to Mumbai for visiting a relative and got stuck there due to unprecedented lockdown.
