Life remains disrupted in remote areas of Province

Jammu Tawi, January 8: Normal life remained disrupted in major parts of hilly areas of districts Reasi, Udhampur and Doda as major link roads got blocked due to heavy snowfall and landslides.

Due to heavy rain and snowfall, residents were forced to remain inside for the past three days. Although conditions improved today, Latti-Dudu, Ramnagar-Basantgarh, Udhampur-Mongri, Udhampur-Panchari and Udhampur- Landher, Gool-Gulabgarh and higher reaches of Doda and Ramban districts were among the roads on which traffic remained suspended. In some of the areas the communication remained broken with their respective district headquarters.

“We received complaints regarding road blockades from various quarters. The department has pressed machinery into service in order to make roads traffic worthy at the earliest,” said Mohd Abdullah, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Udhampur.

Meanwhile, students were forced to take exams without any heating arrangements at exam centres, with the temperature was below sub zero.
