Srinagar, Jan 06
Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Girish Chandra Murmu has directed all the deputy commissioners of the Union Territory to personally monitor languishing projects and ensure their timely completion.
Mr. Murmu, who was appointed as first LG of J&K after its bifurcation into two UTs on October 31, has written to all deputy commissioners of J&K to personally monitor execution of languishing projects. “As a quality initiative of the Government, I would request you to personally monitor all the languishing projects and ensure their timely completion,” reads the LG's letter to DCs on 12th of last month.
The scheme- languishing projects- was rolled out by J&K government in September 2018 to fund projects that have been left incomplete due to one or the other reason. Subsequently, the government created “Jammu & Kashmir Infrastructure Development Corporation” to create a separate window for funding of these projects.
In the letter, the LG has also asked deputy commissioners to resolve issues affecting pace of any project with Financial Commissioner, Finance department and other administrative secretaries.
The LG has also set March 2020 deadline for completion of 50 percent of these projects. “The goal is to complete all the languishing projects by December 2020. Half of these languishing projects shall be completed even earlier, in this financial year itself by March 2020,” the letter reads.
