Darbhanga (Bihar), Oct 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the INDIA bloc, alleging that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav wants to make his son Tejashwi Yadav the chief minister of Bihar, while Congress leader Sonia Gandhi wishes to see her son Rahul Gandhi as prime minister — but asserted that “both posts are not vacant.”
Addressing a public rally in Darbhanga, Shah termed the Mahagathbandhan an “thug bandhan,” accusing Lalu of involvement in multiple scams — including the fodder, bitumen, and land-for-jobs cases — and claiming the Congress was implicated in corruption worth ₹12 lakh crore.
Highlighting the NDA government’s record, Shah said the Centre has banned the radical outfit PFI and arrested its members, vowing that the alliance “will not let them come out of jail.” “Do you think the RJD will keep PFI members behind bars if it returns to power?” he asked.
The Home Minister also listed various welfare and development measures taken in Bihar under the NDA, including free ration to 8.52 crore people, establishment of a Makhana Board, and 125 units of free electricity for domestic consumers.
Shah further announced that Darbhanga will soon get a metro rail, while an AIIMS is being constructed and the city’s airport is already operational. He added that a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita is being built in Mithila, and all places associated with her life will be connected through the Ram Circuit.
“The NDA government gave official status to Maithili language and translated the Constitution into it,” Shah said, adding that a ₹500-crore centre is being established in the region to preserve ancient manuscripts. (Agencies)
