Jammu Tawi: A commemorative function was organized by the Kisan Sabha at Dogra Sadar Sabha Hall, Jammu, to pay heartfelt homage to Prof. Bhim Singh, the late founder of J&K National Panthers Party and a distinguished public figure. The proceedings were conducted by Adv. Hari Chand Jalmeria, President of Kisan Sabha, who highlighted Prof. Bhim Singh’s remarkable journey from a humble farming background in village Bhugtrian (Ramnagar) to becoming a globally respected advocate, parliamentarian, and human rights crusader. His academic path, spanning GGM Science College, Aligarh Muslim University, and an LL.M. from London, laid the foundation for his extraordinary public life.
Prof. Singh was remembered as a multi-dimensional personality—a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, a two-time MLA, MLC, and Member of Parliament, who fearlessly fought against injustice at every level. Speakers reflected on Prof. Singh’s international stature, especially his popularity in the Arab world, his involvement with the United Nations, and his efforts in initiating Heart to Heart Talks between communities on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). Prof. Singh’s literary contributions were widely referenced, with notable works including:
Several eminent voices—including Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak (former Minister), Nirmal Singh Kotwal (President, J&K High Court Bar Association), Syed Rafiq Shah (former MLC & Vice President, Kisan Sabha), and a host of senior advocates, sarpanches, and social activists—delivered stirring tributes, highlighting Prof. Singh’s deep-rooted commitment to secularism, human rights, and regional equality. They collectively underscored the urgent need to carry forward Prof. Singh’s fight for a discrimination-free, united Jammu & Kashmir, calling for restoration of full statehood as a step toward fulfilling his vision. Among those who paid floral tributes were Naveen Bali, Rajesh Gondi, Rakesh Gupta, Pawan Sodhi, Ravinder Jamwal, and others who had worked closely with Prof. Singh over the years.
