    J&K: CRPF Personnel Among 4 Killed in Udhampur Highway Accident

    Udhampur, Jan 27: Four people, including a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a Tata Mobile vehicle near Jhakhani bridge on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway in Udhampur district on Tuesday, officials said.

    The accident occurred when a bus en route from Chenani hit a Tata Mobile that was parked on the roadside. Three civilians who were changing the tyre of the vehicle at the time were killed on the spot. The impact was so severe that the victims were thrown off the bridge, and their bodies were later recovered by police.

    Officials said the bus rammed into the stationary vehicle while attempting to avoid a motorcycle. A CRPF personnel of the 52 Battalion, who was travelling in the bus, also lost his life. He was posted in Kishtwar and was reportedly heading home on leave.

    Several bus passengers sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to Government Medical College, Udhampur. The condition of some injured persons is said to be under observation.

    Police and rescue teams reached the spot immediately, conducted relief operations and cleared traffic on the affected stretch of the highway. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. (Agencies)
