Srinagar, Dec 10: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against four individuals accused of executing a high-value land fraud amounting to ₹25 lakh.
According to the statement, the chargesheet in FIR No. 18/2025 has been filed under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201 and 120-B of the IPC. The accused—Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Bashir Ahmad Ganie, Javeed Ahmad Hakak (then Patwari), and another Patwari now deceased—are alleged to have prepared and used forged land documents to deceive buyers.
The case stems from a joint complaint filed by multiple victims who purchased 8 kanals of land through brokers. Of this, 4 kanals were shown transferred under Khasra No. 92, 2 kanals under Khasra No. 99, and the remaining 2 kanals in the name of another complainant’s father. However, no genuine documents were ever provided.
Verification revealed that the mutation numbers shown by the brokers were fabricated. Investigation at EOW Srinagar established that the accused acted in criminal conspiracy to generate fake land records and mislead purchasers, thereby extracting ₹25 lakh.
The probe confirmed prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy, leading to the filing of the chargesheet for judicial determination.
The EOW reiterated its commitment to combating economic crimes and ensuring justice through professional investigation. (Agencies)
