    J&K: Advisory Issued as Jhelum Water Level Rises in Uri

    URI, Sep 6:  Authorities issued an advisory on Saturday after reports from District Administration Baramulla and NHPC-I confirmed a sharp rise in the Jhelum River’s water level, with discharge recorded at around 630 cumecs.

    The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri warned that the level may increase further in the coming hours, posing a threat to low-lying areas. Residents have been advised to remain on high alert, avoid movement near water bodies, and take all necessary precautions.

    The administration urged people to stay indoors, follow official updates, and dial 112 in case of emergencies. All departments have been directed to maintain maximum alert, while Tehsildars of Uri and Boniyar were instructed to restrict public movement near the river. NHPC authorities were also asked to ensure announcements in vulnerable areas.
