JAMMU, Apr 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police seized over 21.68 kg of illegally cultivated poppy and booked one person in Kathua district, officials said on Friday.
Acting on specific information about illicit cultivation in the Pallan area of Billawar, a police team launched an operation under the supervision of senior officers on Thursday.
During the operation, police recovered 21.68 kg of poppy plants and destroyed the cultivation on the spot in the presence of an executive magistrate, following due procedure.
The accused, identified as Khushi Mohd, a resident of Pallan in Billawar tehsil of Kathua, has been booked in connection with the case.
A case has been registered at Police Station Billawar and further investigation is underway. (Agencies)
