non-committal on meeting with Pak on Hydel projects

New Delhi: India today remained non-committal about its participation in a meeting with Pakistan on its two hydropower projects to be held in the US next month, days after a senior Pakistan minister had made an announcement in Islamabad about such a meet.

Referring to the Indo-Pak talks under the Indus Waters Treaty in Pakistan on March 20-21, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Baglay said they had detailed technical discussions at the meeting which were being assessed.

“At this stage, it would be premature to talk of hypothetical contingencies,” Baglay said.

The spokesperson was asked about Pakistan Minister Khawaja Asif's reported remarks in Islamabad that India and Pakistan will hold three-day secretary-level talks on India's Kishanganga and Ratle hydropower projects. (AGENCIES)
