Udhampur, Sept 6: The District Administration Udhampur, in coordination with the Indian Air Force (IAF), on Saturday airlifted two critically ill patients from the flood and landslide-hit Latti-Marothi tehsil for urgent treatment.
The patients — Shiv Lal of Sira and Diwan Chand of Latti — were stranded as incessant rains and multiple landslides had severed road connectivity with Udhampur.
Acting swiftly on information from the Chief Medical Officer, District Magistrate Saloni Rai coordinated with the IAF under the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) framework to arrange evacuation.
One patient was admitted to Military Hospital Udhampur, while the other was shifted to Government Medical College Udhampur.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to extend all possible support, including emergency medical aid, to residents trapped in inaccessible areas due to heavy rains and landslides.
