HW closed after overnight rain

RAMBAN, Feb 20: Traffic remain suspended for the whole day on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway after there was heavy landslide at different places in between Patnitop to Jawahar Tunnel of district Ramban after the fresh overnight rain.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Ramban Sanjay Bhagat there was a heavy landslide at several places in between Ramban to Banihal including Seri, Marog, Battery Cheshma, Khooni Nullah, Magarakote, Panthyal. Whereas from Ramban to Patnitop there were shooting stones at Peerah, Dalwas and Nashri.
He added that in the morning the vehicles on National Highway were allowed to move towards their destinations.
“The men and machinery have been kept on standby and as soon as the weather improves we will start the road opening operation as shooting stones are hampering the clearance operation,” he said.
Furthermore the traffic from Jammu to Srinagar was stopped at Nagrota and there is prediction of rain and snowfall, so it will be decide later from where to allow the traffic tomorrow.X
