NEW DELHI: Gyanendra Pratap Singh, the current Assam Police chief, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on January 18.
Singh, a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will serve as the CRPF DG until his superannuation on November 30, 2027. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment.
Since the retirement of Anish Dayal Singh on December 31, 2024, senior IPS officer Vitul Kumar has been holding the officiating charge of the CRPF.
