Another 2-day wet spell expected from Jan 21; LMVs to ply towards on highway tomorrow

Jammu Tawi, Jan 17: As Kashmir parts received fresh snowfall today, the local Meteorological department (MeT) here has predicted light snowfall in tonight and another two-day wet spell from January 21.

Officials in the MeT told that a feeble Western Disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir at present and subsequently, there is a possibility of light snowfall in plains of Kashmir and light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches of J&K and during January 17 night and 18th.

“Another spell of light to moderate snow in J&K is likely during January 21-22. There is no forecast of any major rain/snow till ending January in both the Union Territories,” MeT officials said.

Meanwhile, as per the traffic advisory for tomorrow, the officials said that subject to fair and better road conditions LMVs (Passenger)/ private cars shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu (strictly one way) on Jammu-Srinagar highway.

It said that TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

However, the officials said that some of the roads including Mughal Road, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road and Kishtwar-Sinthan Road shall continue to remain closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation.
