During a special drive by Food Safety department in Anantnag a mobile food testing van was used to test about 15 samples of different commodities like milk, oils, spices on spot. Samples of various food items were procured for detailed analysis after same were found in contravention of prescribed parameters. In addition extensive awareness was also imparted among different food business operators and general public of this town to follow good hygienic practices to ensure availability of safe food. Besides ill effects of use of outdated newspapers as wrappers and covering material which is prohibited under law and along with the use synthetic colours in preparation of various cuisines was also thrown light upon by the concerned officials.
Common masses appreciated the efforts of food safety department and appealed them to carry such awareness activities more frequently.
