Dr. Vikas gets best oral presentation award at Goa Conference

Dr. Vikas Sharma S/o Sh. Harbans Lal Sharma and Pushplata Sharma, R/o Sector No. 3, Channi Himmat, Jammu got best oral paper presentation award in Conference of Maharashtra Society of Agricultural Economics (MSAE)” held at Goa w.e.f. 25th – 26th October, 2018. The award that contains a Certificate of Excellence along with momento was presented to Dr. Sharma by Hon'ble Minister of Goa Sh. Vijai Sardesai in the presence of other dignitaries like Dr. Prakash Mahindre – President MSAE, Dr R.G. Deshmukh – Chairman & Secretary, MSAE and Dr. S. C Nagpure, Organising secretary of the Conference. The paper entitled “Economic use of Syzygium cumini (a minor fruit of Jammu) against colon cancer cells” discussed about in vitro cytotoxic effect of Jamun fruit against four human cancer cells from breast, lung, prostate and colon origin. The paper gave solution to the selection of this minor fruit from Jammu subtropics for further pharmacological analysis and recommend that regular consumption of this fruit will reduce the
risk of colon cancer and further clarified that active molecule from the fruit can offer new drug to provide great service to patients especially with colon carcinoma. Working as Asstt. Professor in the Division of Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Sharma has 12 years experience of research and teaching. He got many National and awards from various Govt. Organizations for his contributions in the field of Science. He has more than 120 publications of to his credit including full length research papers, book chapters, abstracts, articles etc.
