Dir Agri inspects progress on farmers welfare progs under NAFCC

Director , Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan today inspected the progress of ongoing farmer welfare programmes being implemented under Adaptation Fund for Climate Change project (NAFCC) and other centrally sponsored schemes in Bhalwal.
The Director, Agriculture also inaugurated a community deep bore well at village, Marjali which has been installed with 100% assistance by the department under NAFCC. The water from the bore well would be stored at the community pond which would facilitate the irrigation needs of the village.
He asked the farmers to take full advantage of this unique facility by growing multiple crops of vegetables, pulses and fodder to uplift their financial status. He informed that the upkeep and maintenance of this bore well facility would be looked after by the Village Committee constituted for the purpose. He also inspected the individual bore wells dug with the assistance of the department at Marjali, Berha, Lower Gharota, Sobka and Dumi under NAFCC, besides inspecting the agricultural fields. A team of officers, accompanying the Director, also inspected the line sowing demonstration of maize crop in the field of Narotam Singh at Gharota and bower system for raising vegetables in the field of Ramesh Singh at Dumi. The Director asked the farmers to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom, seed production, vegetable cultivation and adoption of latest agriculture to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer's income.
He directed the field staff to make all out efforts to achieve the higher sustainable level of agriculture production in the Kandi belt. Earlier, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Marh Rajinder Singh Jamwal presented the overall view of the various activities undertaken by the department under NAFCC project/CSS for the welfare of the farmers including establishment of 19 bore wells, 13 Vermicompost units, and 22 vermi-bed units in the area.
The Director was accompanied by the team of officers including Jagmohan Bhat, A.K Arora, Arun Makhnotra, J.C Raina, Dinesh Sharma, B.K Kaul, Vikas Sharma, Amrik Singh and other field functionaries including JAEOs and VAEAs of the area.
