In a chilling development, a temple sanitation worker—now identified as a protected witness—has reportedly volunteered to assist investigators in locating mass burial sites allegedly tied to a series of targeted killings and human rights violations. The revelation was made in a letter submitted by a Rajya Sabha MP, who has brought national attention to the case.
According to the MP’s letter, the sanitation worker has provided investigators with a detailed and specific account of mass graves, acid disfigurements, and systematic killings, believed to have taken place over a span of nearly two decades. “He describes mass burials, acid disfigurement, and targeted killings, and has expressed willingness to lead investigators to the burial sites. His confession is detailed, specific, and supported by physical evidence,” the letter stated.
The testimony comes in the wake of increasing pressure from activists, Right to Information (RTI) petitioners, and grieving families, many of whom have alleged intimidation, threats, and digital harassment for seeking justice and transparency regarding the disappearance and deaths of their loved ones. Despite their persistent efforts, they claim to have been met with “intimidation and suppression” rather than answers.
Following a formal complaint lodged on July 3, the Dharmasthala police registered a case under Section 211(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations since then have uncovered a grim trail. The worker, according to police sources, had recently revisited the alleged burial sites—locations where he claims to have interred skeletal remains between 1995 and 2014.
The authorities are now in the process of verifying the claims and gathering forensic evidence. The remains, if found, could offer crucial leads in what could be one of the most disturbing cases of hidden atrocities in recent memory.
Legal and human rights experts have called for a transparent and thorough probe, stressing the importance of safeguarding the witness and ensuring justice for the victims. “The significance of this testimony cannot be overstated,” said one rights advocate. “If proven true, it points to an organized pattern of violence and cover-up that must be investigated without delay.”
As investigators prepare to visit the identified sites under heightened security, the case continues to draw national attention, with many demanding accountability, justice, and protection for all those speaking out.
