New Delhi: More than 200 doctors and staff at Al Falah University have come under scrutiny following the November 10 car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, according to sources. Security agencies have been conducting repeated checks at the university, prompting anxiety among students and employees. On Wednesday, several staff members were seen leaving campus with packed belongings, with university sources saying they were going on leave.
Investigators are verifying how many individuals left the university after the blast and are working to identify them amid suspicions that some may be linked to the terrorists. Sources said many people have deleted mobile data, which is also being examined. Over 1,000 people have been questioned so far, with searches continuing in hostels and rented accommodations outside campus.
A major development in the probe includes the detention of a 35-year-old Anganwadi worker from Nuh who had rented a room to suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi in Hidayat Colony and had been absconding since the incident. Her family is also under investigation, and seven others in Nuh have been questioned over possible links to Umar, who reportedly used multiple mobile phones while staying in the rented accommodation.
After alleged terror links involving the Al Falah Medical College surfaced, daily OPD footfall at its hospital has sharply dropped from around 200 patients to less than 100, according to hospital sources. Investigators are also probing whether Umar had an internal handler at the university, as he reportedly enjoyed “special treatment.” Two doctors said he remained absent for six months in 2023 without notice but resumed duty without action. They also claimed he took minimal classes, worked only brief hours and was consistently assigned evening or night shifts.
Multiple agencies — including the NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh ATS, Faridabad Crime Branch and Jammu & Kashmir Police — are currently working on campus. On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate also joined the probe. A temporary multi-agency command centre has been set up inside the university as investigations continue. (Agencies)
