CS Reviews Healthcare Infrastructure Across Jammu

    Jammu Tawi, August 4:
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today undertook a comprehensive tour of major government-run medical institutions in Jammu to assess healthcare services and review ongoing infrastructure projects.

Accompanied by Principals of concerned Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents, faculty members, and senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), the Chief Secretary began his visit at Government Medical College (GMC), Bakshi Nagar. He inspected the newly constructed 100-bedded Critical Care Block and reviewed progress on the Department of Interventional Pulmonology and High-End Laboratory (DIPHL), aimed at enhancing specialized care.

He later visited the adjoining Bone & Joint Hospital and the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital at Shalamar. At SMGS, he inspected the under-construction 243-bedded Gynaecological Block, being developed at a cost of ₹31.59 crore. Officials informed him that the block will bolster maternal and neonatal services, helping reduce Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates while also easing surgical backlogs.

At the State Cancer Institute (SCI), being developed at an estimated ₹104 crore, Dulloo assessed critical facilities including OPD/IPD services, diagnostic labs, chemotherapy and radiotherapy units, and PET scan operations. He also reviewed the status of three modern operation theatres and installation of advanced equipment like the Linear Accelerator (LINAC), facilitated by JKMSCL.

The Chief Secretary also visited the Government Dental College, Amphalla, where he inspected patient care facilities and newly built infrastructure. He instructed the executing agency to expedite the formal handover of the new building for early use.

During his day-long visit, Dulloo stressed timely completion of all ongoing projects with strict quality control and urged optimal utilization of new facilities to deliver high-quality healthcare to Jammu’s residents.
