Srinagar, Nov 19: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against six individuals for allegedly tampering with official records submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
The chargesheet in FIR No. 87/2022, registered under IPC Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B, was submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar. Those named include Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mudasir Yousuf Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Dar, and Anoop Mishra, a CAT employee.
The case began after a communication from the Chief Horticulture Officer flagged suspected tampering of documents in TA No. 4100/2021. Investigations later confirmed that records in CAT Srinagar’s custody had been unlawfully altered. Crime Branch said prime accused Majid Khan, in conspiracy with Mishra and other beneficiary employees, inserted unauthorised entries related to their regularisation in the Horticulture Department.
During searches, officers recovered twelve official seals of various government departments, including those of the Director Horticulture, BDOs, Tehsildars, ZEOs, Principals and Headmasters, from Khan’s residence. Call Detail Records and WhatsApp chats seized from Khan’s mobile phone also corroborated the conspiracy and breach of trust by Mishra.
The chargesheet has been placed before the court for further judicial action. (Agencies)
