    ‘Being courteous to our patients, attendants fill us with hope’

    Jammu Tawi, May 20: Apart from doctors and other paramedical staff, nurses in times of Covid are rendering selfless service to mankind by risking their lives and treating and taking care of Covid positive patients.

    Speaking to us, nurses from different areas of J&K said that it is their duty to treat patients and being courteous to our patients and their attendants fills them with hope.

    Manju Singh, a nurse from Jammu said that we are trying our best to treat and take care of patients in best possible way and in Covid times, there are many such instances when “we haven’t eaten anything for hours but have taken care of our patients.”

    She said that our first priority remains a patient and we feel happy and relaxed when a patient recovers.

    “If we can just be courteous to our patients and their attendants, it fills them with hope and we can’t give up till all the patients recover fully and the pandemic ends, she said.

    Haseena Sofi, assistant nursing superintendent administration at SKIMS Srinagar said that that nurses are angles, who remain available every time at hospital whether it is time of birth of baby, death of a person or even treating patients any time 24×7.

    She said that in times of Covid, even family members don’t go close to their Covid positive family members but nurses risk their live but take care of the patient besides treatment.

    She said that yes we are getting salary but performing duties with sincerity and sympathy will get reward in court of Almighty as in times of Covid patients need extra care and their lives remain indirectly in hands of nurses and they must work more sincerely.
