Grenade hurled at CRPF party in Kulgam

Srinagar, Nov 7: Terrorists hurled a grenade on security forces party in Kulgam district of Kashmir on Sunday, police said. Also, a police constable of Jammu Kashmir Police was shot at by suspected terrorists in Srinagar, who later succumbed to his injuries.

A police constable was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Kashmir's Srinagar on Sunday evening.

The 29-year-old policeman, identified as Tausif Ahmad, succumbed to bullet injuries after being shot with a pistol at close range in SD Colony in Batamaloo area.

“At about 8 pm, terrorists fired upon JKP Constable Tausif Ahmad near his residence at SD Colony, Batamaloo,” an official was quoted in a PTI report.

The policeman, who was posted at the police control room, was immediately rushed to SMHS Hospital after the firing incident. The doctors declared him brought dead.

The area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to catch hold of the attackers, officials said.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference condemned the attack in a tweet. The party wrote, “Unequivocally condemn the cowardly and dastardly attack on 29-year-old policeman in Batamaloo, Srinagar in which he lost his life. No words of condemnation would be enough! May Allah grant him a place in Jannat. Our hearts go out to his family and friends at this time of grief.”

Meanwhile, a grenade was hurled by terrorists on a CRPF party in Kulgam of Kashmir in the evening today.

No loss of life or injury has been reported so far in the incident. “

At 6:25 pm, terrorists hurled a grenade upon 18 Bn CRPF party at Nehama chowk in district Kulgam which exploded on the roadside,” a police official said. More details awaited.
