The man who remained in controversies and always thinks in terms of Hindu versus Muslim in India has once again spitted venom this time sharing his piece of mind in a controversial book in his book Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times wherein he equated the Hindutva to the jihadist Islamic terror groups such as the ISIS and Boko Haram.
This is the same person whom whole of India and the world saw prompting a small child of a year or so in his lesson to speak “Hum kya chahte Azaadi”. The video had gone viral and he defended without any remorse his widely condemned act.
Again he is the same man who on April 24, 2018 while interacting with the students of Aligarh Muslim University, opening stated that his party’s (Congress) hands are stained with blood of Muslims.
Have a look at what he said then, “I won’t hesitate to say that Congress has the stain of Muslim blood on its hand. As leader of the party, I feel the blots are on my hand.”
And the irony is that his same Congress party had made him the union law minister. How dangerous was it to put a person of such communal credentials to don such a crucial and hugely important ministry at the centre? The damage may have already been done and its extent may be unimaginable.
The senior Congress leader’s remarks has been widely condemned and responded vehemently by not only opposition parties, but his own party stalwarts like Azad, Rawat and others in individual capacities while the Congress has not yet clarified its position officially. The latest statement of scion of Congress Rahul Gandhi who gave his theory of Hinduism and Hindutva are two different things seems to have almost endorsed the version held by Salman Khurseed.
Criminal complaints have been reportedly filed in Delhi and elsewhere seeking registration of an FIR against Khurshid, the former Union minister for hurting the religious sentiments of people. Some termed it as Congress leaders are “practitioners of appeasement politics”. Others said, “What else can we expect from someone whose party coined the term Saffron terror just to draw equivalence with Islamic jihad, to get Muslim votes.”
BJP spokesperson vociferously hit back by responding, “It is in the character of the Congress and the Gandhi family to attack Hinduism at every opportunity. What they say is not a coincidence but an experiment, and the headmaster of this experimental lab is Rahul Gandhi,” he claimed.
“There is a pathological hatred for Hinduism among Congress leaders… and they get traction for this from the Gandhi family,” he alleged.
Further on Rahul Gandhi’s differentiation between ‘Hinduism’ and ‘Hindutva’, Patra said: “Can they talk on similar lines about other religions…of course not. They cannot talk of similar issues in any other religion. The question is why do they talk ill of Hinduism all the time,” he said, citing terms like “saffron terror” used by senior leaders on “directions” of Rahul Gandhi.
This is unfortunate that such elements were raised to higher echelons of power and often rewarded here. It is possible only in India that peoples in the guise of intellectualism spread such hatred and yet go scot-free.
