A wave of controversy has engulfed the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Sunderbani, Rajouri, in the wake of retirement of the incumbent Block Medical Officer and his probable replacement in sub District Hospital Sunderbani.
According to sources, there is huge canvassing and politics going on over the appointment of new BMO, as an influential doctor under the patronage of a local politicians is instrumental in pressuring higher authorities.
“Local doctor has openly came out to organizing public protests in an effort to influence the decision-making process regarding the BMO appointment,” said sources, adding that despite the fact that large section of the society are seeking non-local BMO, this local doctor is trying to pressurize higher authorities.
Sources alleged that the protests orchestrated by this local doctor have drawn significant attention from both the public and local government officials.
“Some acquaintances of the local doctor staged protest in her support, despite the fact that the same protest was orchestrated by the doctor herself,” said sources, adding that the residents of the area are seeking non-local BMO, claiming that the local doctor will not take care of the health infrastructure, which is already in bad shape.
Locals have requested the Lieutenant Governor as well as concerned Commissioner Secretary not to fall prey to these pressure tactics and take wise decision in the interest of the society.
