Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Kadaddi, Gilli-Danda, Santolia dominate Rural
sports in 101 Panchayats
Jammu Tawi, Oct 30 (UNI):
To mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, rural games are being organised in
101 Panchayats of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kho-kho, wrestling, gilli danda, santolia, kabaddi, tug-kashi, satapu,
kanche (marbles) will be the highlights of the festival. More than
1,500 children of 101 panchayats will take part in the competitions.
“To promote rural and traditional sports, the district administration
under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has launched various games in all 101
panchayats of the district,” Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta
told.
She said that the aim behind it is to keep youth away from drugs and
social evils and to connect them with sports as much as possible.
She informed that games are being organized in every panchayat of the
district in collaboration with District Youth Service and Sports.
